My week of soap mass-production is almost over! One more batch to go, and everything I have made in the last week will go with me to the Pioneer Days Festival at the Wolfe Creek/Pine Run Grist Mill. The soaps I choose to make are the favorite sellers from last year’s Farmers’ Market as well as a couple new combinations and recipes. Below is a list of the nine batches I made (that’s 135 bars!)
- Lemongrass & Orange Hand Soap (this one is new!)
- Lavender Goat Milk Bath Bar (my second-best seller)
- Honey Almond Oatmeal Bath Bar (always a favorite for summer-lovers)
- Orange, Cinnamon & Clove Bath Bar (originally made to appeal to my male customers, but women love it, too!)
- Coffee Clean Hand Soap (can always be found in my kitchen)
- Rosemary & Lavender Bath Bar (another new scent, I had lots of requests for rosemary in my soaps)
- Unscented Goat Milk Bath Bar (super moisturizing and gentle without any added fragrance)
- Double Mint Delight Bath Bar (peppermint and spearmint…my best seller last year!)
- Peppermint Goat Milk Bath Bar (a new twist on the popular Double Mint Delight)
As requested by a family member, who LOVES the mint soaps, I have added menthol crystals to my mint recipes. Menthol will amplify the “tingly” sensation when you step out of the shower. A great summer soap that will really help cool you off during the hot months.
All of my soaps now contain locally raised honey. Honey is an excellent skin moisturizer and the sugar content allows the bubbles to explode when you lather up your bar. How appropriate for a company named Nature’s Honey, right? I still get all my goat milk from some very spoiled and happy goats living outside Mt. Gilead, Ohio. For all my non-goat milk soaps, I use personally collected spring water from the Niman Spring in Perrysville, Ohio (right beside the Malabar Farm Inn, if you have ever traveled that way!)
All of these soaps will be cured by the Pioneer Days Festival on May 1-2, 2010 and whatever I don’t sell out of will go on my Artfire website, so you always know what I have available for purchase. And, please, you don’t have to order from my Artfire website to order soaps! If you are local, and most of you are, I am happy to set bars aside for you for pick-up or delivery. Just send me an e-mail at natureshoney@live.com.
Happy Easter, everyone!
